What you'll learn

Four pillars of credit mastery.

Most people fail at credit because they're fed a confusing mix of myths, half-truths, and "hacks" that don't survive a real look under the hood. Here's the framework we teach instead.

01 / Foundation

How scoring really works

FICO 8 vs. FICO 9 vs. VantageScore 4.0 — what each model weights, which one your lender actually uses, and why your "free score" might be 80 points off.

About the author

Hi, I'm Stefany Jones.

I built The Quick Credit Fix because the credit industry runs on confusion, and confusion costs ordinary people thousands of dollars every year — in interest, denied loans, missed opportunities.

What you'll find here is the opposite of that: clear explanations, real numbers, and the same strategies I'd give a friend over coffee. No upsells, no "fast fix" snake oil, no "let us repair your credit for $99 a month" pitches. Just the education the system should have given you in the first place.

Frequently asked

The questions everyone asks.

How long does it actually take to improve a credit score? +
Most people see meaningful movement in 30 to 90 days when they pay down utilization, dispute legitimate errors, and stay current on every account. Bigger lifts — say, sub-600 to 700+ — typically take 6 to 18 months of consistent action. Anyone promising "100 points in 7 days, guaranteed" is selling something, not teaching.
Is paying off old collections going to hurt my score? +
Under FICO 9, VantageScore 3.0, and VantageScore 4.0, paid collections are ignored. Under older FICO 8 (still used by many lenders), paying a collection can sometimes refresh its date — which is why a pay-for-delete agreement in writing, before you send a dollar, is the safer move.
Do I really need a credit repair company? +
No. Everything a credit repair company can legally do, you can do yourself for free under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Most charge $79–$129/month for letters that take you 20 minutes to write. Our guides walk you through the exact dispute process — line by line.
What's the fastest legitimate way to raise my score? +
Lower your credit utilization below 10% before your statement closes. Utilization is recalculated every month, so this single change can move your score 20 to 60 points in a single billing cycle. We walk through the exact timing in the Credit Repair Starter Kit.
Is this site free? What's the catch? +
The blog, calculators, and Starter Kit are all free. The site is supported by occasional affiliate partnerships with services we'd recommend anyway (and we always disclose them). No subscriptions, no paywalls, no "premium tier" hiding the good stuff.
